That did not mean however, that we didn’t see some digital presentations, as many designers continued to adopt less traditional ways of presenting their designs, whether through imagery, film or something else unique. A textured updo feels romantic and effortless so your accessories should capture this vibe. Find small pins that you can scatter to the side of your updo, or a medium sized comb which can sit in the middle to frame your wedding veil. Depending on the size of your bun and your face shape, exaggerated earrings will balance out your look and will bring attention to the front and sides. It would be a shame to cover up beautiful braids and twists so pair this look with a sheer minimalist veil or position it just above the bun (rather than the crown of your head). Avoid veils with extra wide combs (i.e. wider than 3-3.5 inches) as larger veil combs will look too bulky. Veils attached to smaller combs from 1.5 inches to 3 inches will create a more contemporary finish.
High-rise jeans may have dominated our wardrobes for over a decade, but come spring 2022 things get a whole lot more ’00s as the low-slung waist makes its way back to the forefront of sartorial conscious. They’re all about bearing the midriff, so there’s no trend value in opting for a low-rise and hiding it beneath a long knit. Opt for cropped tops for full ’00s drama. Strapped accents have been gaining popularity over recent seasons, but it’s set to really take hold from summer 2022 onwards. Whether it’s a top with multi-straps across the shoulders and décolletage, trousers with a strapped waistband criss-crossing across the stomach – or, indeed, both – you’ll have to forgo any worries of awkward tan lines next season and embrace the straps. Leading the show notes for Chloe’s spring/summer 2022 collection was a quote from Aldous Huxley about love. Of all the worn, smudged, dog-eared words in our vocabulary, ‘love’ is surely the grubbiest, smelliest, slimiest. Bawled from a million pulpits, lasciviously crooned through hundreds of millions of loudspeakers, it has become an outrage to good taste and decent feeling, an obscenity which one hesitates to pronounce. And yet it has to be pronounced; for, after all, Love is the last word. As well as the concept of love inspiring the collection was a celebration of craft, where it is expanding the number of our products handcrafted by independent artisans. We are embossing all of these products with a signature spiral symbol. Chloe Craft seeks to pioneer new levels of traceability and transparency in the industry and establish a deeper connection between consumers and local producers. These techniques cannot be mimicked by machinery, only mastered by the human hand.
French Chic, Stylist and creative director Maria Bernad is the definition of French chic outside New York Fashion Week. Ho is loving all the short cuts, seen at fashion week and on Instagram. “People are going shorter, sassier, and stronger,” she says. “I’ve been cutting shorter and shorter bobs lately, and I am obsessed.” Actress and model Taylor Lashae takes French chic to the next level with a black beret. We’re also loving the wavy texture of her hair, which adds a certain softness to the cut.
Creative director Olivier Rousteing returned to the catwalk last night, presenting a collection which was designed as a response to his own suffering after being burned and scarred as a result of an explosion in his home in 2020. It was a message of the power of hope and truth, he said and, while not originally intended as a response to what is happening in Ukraine, those are two things we have never needed more than we do right now. These runway offerings were not designed as a direct response to the recent horrific invasion of our neighbours and I would never dare to even think of comparing the suffering that they are going through right now with the problems that I have had on social media. Still, as we watch the news, my team and I do keep in mind this collection’s message: united in solidarity, we can rely on the power of hope and truth to push back against hate, lies and aggression.
