Mindfulness meditation and binaural sounds and recommendations? Nourish Your Forces – When you do the SWOT for any area of your life, you’ll also recognize your strengths. The better thing to do in life is to decide to commence with your forces. You want to continue performing the things you’re great at and learn to do them even better because you’re interested in these things. Correct Your Flaws – When you find out that you are limited in some fields, you’ll need to decide whether you should change it yourself or develop it by outsourcing it. To settle, which is better, question yourself whether it truly matters who do it or get it done.
Slowly Build Core Muscles: Focus on slowly building up your core muscles, rather than rushing into things. Here are 3 of our favorite core strengthening moves: Leg circles, Scissor kick, Plank leg lift. If you’re looking for a quick and easy move, start with leg circles. Simply lay on your back, with your arms at your side and palms facing towards the ground. Next, bend your left knee, and plant your left foot on the floor. Finally, extend your right leg into the air and draw a circle. Reverse the circle, going back and forth in different directions. After about ten circles, switch legs.
Eating too much of any food, even low-calorie vegetables, can result in weight gain. Therefore, people should avoid estimating a serving size or eating food directly from the packet. It is better to use measuring cups and serving size guides. Guessing leads to overestimating and the likelihood of eating a larger-than-necessary portion. Many people benefit from mindful eating, which involves being fully aware of why, how, when, where, and what they eat. Making more healthful food choices is a direct outcome of becoming more in tune with the body. People who practice mindful eating also try to eat more slowly and savor their food, concentrating on the taste. Making a meal last for 20 minutes allows the body to register all of the signals for satiety. It is important to focus on being satisfied after a meal rather than full and to bear in mind that many “all natural” or low-fat foods are not necessarily a healthful choice.
One of the most interesting studies in the last few years, carried out at Yale University, found that mindfulness meditation decreases activity in the default mode network (DMN), the brain network responsible for mind-wandering and self-referential thoughts – a.k.a., “monkey mind.” The DMN is “on” or active when we’re not thinking about anything in particular, when our minds are just wandering from thought to thought. Since mind-wandering is typically associated with being less happy, ruminating, and worrying about the past and future, it’s the goal for many people to dial it down. Several studies have shown that meditation, through its quieting effect on the DMN, appears to do just this. And even when the mind does start to wander, because of the new connections that form, meditators are better at snapping back out of it. Find additional details at Wellness Care.
Do you know someone who has struggled with addiction? One of the most beautiful effects of meditation is that it can help people overcome powerful addictions. One fascinating study found that Vipassana meditation can be incredibly effective at helping people overcoming alcohol and drug related addictions, and similar effects have been found for various types of meditation.
Be persistent and overcome. There will be times when you just don’t follow your plan. Perhaps it’s that evening when you eat a whole bag of sweets in one sitting. Don’t let this derail your entire journey. Use it as a lesson to be learned and move forward. This is extremely important, especially when you just start on your new plan. You will be surprised at how many times you sabotage your diet and exercise plan without even realizing it. Tell your friends and family about your goals. This will create some accountability for you and will also provide you with support from those who care about you and love you.
What Does the Latest Research and Science Show? A recent survey on the incidence of meditation in the US population indicated a marked increase in the number of adults and children who practice meditation every day (Black, Barnes, Clarke, and Stussman, Nahin, 2018). Psychologists and allied mental health practitioners agree on the effectiveness of meditation in reducing physical, mental, and emotional disturbances. A study by the National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health (NCCIH) found that mindful meditation reduces pain sensations in the body without using the brain’s natural opiates (Cherkin, Sherman, Balderson, Cook, Anderson, Hawkes, Hansen, and Turner, 2016). The research suggested that combining meditation practices with medication for treating pain conditions like osteoarthritis, headaches, and other chronic pains can be useful for providing long-term remedies.
